Christmas at Carri

We've just returned from spending Christmas at The Running Postman with my parents who were over from NZ (apologies to those of you who wanted to book this week - for once we managed to get in first!).  There's nothing like a week at Carri to put you in to serious relaxation mode.  The weather was stunning almost all of the time and the water at the beach was calm and crystal clear (still a bit brisk!) - I just love it when you can see small fish in the shallows as you wade in for dip.  Highlights of this trip that might interest future visitors to The Running Postman were: seeing a young dolphin jump clear out of the water, visiting Second Valley and Rapid Bay to try our hand at fishing for squid (and Dad getting one on his first ever cast!) - gorgeous spots to visit even if you're not interested in fishing, spotting the baby Blue-tonged Lizards in the garden (Hooray!), and dining at The Court House Restaurant (Anthony declared the duck main course the best duck he's ever eaten! A big call from him).  Hope you get to enjoy similar highlights when you next stay at The Running Postman.

It was back in November 2011 when I made a 'last minute dash' to find a place for the school holidays - overworked and desperate to find a place to chill for the family. Upon searching under Carri The Running Postman popped up and was taken to it immediately. The reality didn't disappoint. Loved the environmental feel to the place. The location is within easy distance to beach and Normanville. We walked every day and even though the weather was not as summery as it could have been the freshness was a change from up north.
Loved the culinary delights of the herb and vegie garden and the new local butcher provided some lovely cuts - sorry for any vegans out there - that were cooked on the well resourced kitchen.
We met the local fauna sunning themselves on the deck - at least it was warm enough for them and the friendly horses across the road provided a distraction for the teenagers with us. Dining out did not disappoint either. The south coast living up to its wonderful reputation. Hope to get back there next hols.
